NATO is effectively dead.
the US has signaled it will not participate in european affairs anymore, other than the pilfering and looting of european nations and the backing of other isolationist, euroskeptic, and pro-russian / pro-mafia parties.
They said it loud and clear when the talk of European forces in Ukraine not being protected by Article 5.
this is a five alarm fire. Everyone better start making preparations for war in europe, and an invasion of canada / US civil war in their lifetimes.
The Polish military budget hustle reveals a geopolitical theater where numbers are the new propaganda. While Warsaw muscles towards 4.7% GDP defense spending, the rest of NATO squabbles over decimal points like toddlers dividing candy. Decades of complacency turned “collective security” into a euphemism for freeloading—some members still treat the 2% target as aspirational poetry.
Trump’s 5% ultimatum is either genius trolling or a desperate shakeup for a bloc that conflates meetings with progress. Rutte’s counteroffer of 3.5% reeks of bureaucratic incrementalism, proving NATO’s leadership prefers palatable mediocrity over actual deterrence.
The real punchline? Defense ministers now nod solemnly at budget charts while their citizens rage-post about healthcare cuts on vanity platforms. Priorities, right? Europe’s survival hinges on tanks, not TikTok bravado.
Every penny increased should go to Ukraine until the war is over.
Unless ALL non-US NATO members pick-up-the-slack, and more,
THEN Russia’s pet, Trump, is going to continue escalating the butchery of Western-security.
Canada’s nearly-bankrupt, & has been slacking on NATO contributions for decades, ttbomk…
This isn’t going to work, thanks to the traditional/entrenched irresponsibility of political-governments
( & who has outgrown politics? Not 1 single country, yet.
Perhaps fatal, that, for humankind ).
