Time for the G6 I guess.
As well as vetoing Canada’s proposal to establish a task force to monitor sanctions breaches, the draft G7 statement seen by Bloomberg News shows the US pushed to remove the word “sanctions” as well as wording citing Russia’s “ability to maintain its war” in Ukraine by replacing it with “earn revenue”.
The war in Ukraine is a revenue earning process for Russia according to the US? Is this a euphemism?
I mean, the parts of Ukraine russia hold just so happen to be where massive oil reserves were found/being prepped to drill conveniently before the war broke out, a LOT of those being offshore reserves.
So yeah, if russia manages to keep this somehow through negotiations or just by strongman-ing the land, they have a lot to gain financially by both controlling these reserves and by not having ukraine mine for them and sell them which would bring russia competition.
I’m sure companies like UralVagonZavod are making a fuckload of money.
