Live in MI. I walk a ton, but the closest dedicated coffee shop (Bigby) is 1.5 miles from me. There are, however, two restaurants that will also serve me coffee within .125 miles.
It’s one of those things to keep in mind when looking for a place. They could live in downtown Ann Arbor and walk to a million coffee shops. It won’t be $650, but they might be able to find something for less than $2k (depending on what they’re looking for). Moving to CA for a walkable coffee shop is silly.
When I was looking for a place I wrote down the 5 places I went the most and would map out how long it would take to get to each of them and factored that into where I picked. If walkable coffee is important to someone, that’s easy to do pretty much anywhere in the country.
