I was supremely anxious about starting for a long time, worried there would be sudden changes that would disrupt my social life or that I would get cold feet.
I am sure that any body differences I am seeing are mostly in my head because it has been such a short time, but I am more confident than ever that I am on the right path, at least. I feel really good, and I had some talks with friends about this transition and they were all really supportive. I had the DIY HRT tab open in my browser for like six months, so I am glad that I finally got over my fear and. (I going through PP and not doing DIY)
Just wanted to let you all know how it’s been going!
Congratulations! It’s a big first step. I was sitting in my patches for a week or two before I started, I was terrified. 4/20 rolled around and I figured what better HRT anniversary could there be, said fuck it, and haven’t looked back.
420 blahaj it
Yeah getting started was the scariest part! Now that I have gotten past that, I am really glad that I didn’t just keep on waiting. Jealous of your anniversary haha, 4/20 is a very good one lmao
Congrats!
Have you ever used a coin flip to help decide between two options you’re stuck between, where the act of flipping the coin helps you to realise what you were hoping for the whole time? I’ve heard starting HRT compared to this, because before starting, there’s usually a period of “ohgodohgodohgodohgodohgod is this the right thing to do? Aaaaaaaaaaaa”, and then after starting, a comparatively serene period of “yes, this is right for me”
Even though the body changes at this stage are small, the mental impact of starting HRT can’t be overstated. I had a friend who seemed like a transformed person from the very first pill she took; she told me her pills contained two things: estradiol valerate, which takes a while to take effect; and hope, which kicks in instantly.
Anyway, I’m happy for you OP, thanks for sharing
Congrats!
I’ve got my appointment with a specialist tomorrow. They’re probably going to want blood tests before they prescribe anything, but more than any other changes, I’m just looking forward to having peace of mind. I can wait 5 years for the rest to grow in, but mentally I feel like a battery hovering at 1-5%. Looking forward to changing that 💜
Aahh that’s awesome! I hope your appointment goes well, and that you start feeling full charge once again!
Congratulations, sister! :3
This is your adventure. Just make sure to get your levels checked every 3 months or so to make sure everything is proper. Enjoy this wildly fascinating time that’ll unfold before you.
Very wise. That’s one major reason I ended up going through Planned Parenthood even though the social interaction scared me. Having regular checkups on DIY seemed like it would be harder to do
That’s fantastic. I’m glad that you’re comfortable with yourself.
I’ve been on hrt for 1.5 months and for me the changes have been pretty quick so far so they may not be in your head.
