I feel that. I wouldn’t be the person I am if it wasn’t for Ozzy and Sabbath. I don’t think I would have picked up a guitar if it weren’t for those riffs. I wouldn’t have expanded my mind if it weren’t for the lyrics. I wouldn’t have hit it off with certain friends if it wasn’t for the music. The musical project I’m in wouldnt exist.

I really don’t know what else to say. I know so many people will be coming out of the woodwork with a “take”. Some good, and some super glib and devoid of any meaning. I’ve lost a lot of people close to me over the last few years. Experiencing that dulls the celebrity deaths, but some will just hit hard. Off the top of my head: Ozzy, Tom Petty, Jeff Austin, and weirdly Brian Wilson. Paul McCartney will break my heart in the not so distant future too.

It sucks living in a world with diminishing returns on greatness, and it sucks living in a post Black Sabbath world.
