I don’t really mind arguing with the people on hexbear, their attempt to gang-harass me is pretty pathetic, but I would like to not see any of their posts on my feed anymore as nothing they post is relevant to me. How can I block an entire instance?

You cannot, this is not yet implemented in Lemmy. The feature exists in some apps, but it’s essentially a client-side filter. For now, to really block an instance, you’ll have to block the communities individually.
