if you want a genuine answer it’s because the remakes are made to be “Wow, remember X scene from game but now in 4K with modern graphics and 240hz threadripper cum shaders!” from the moment you launch the game, and showing off one of those scenes as the menu is one of the easiest ways to do that. it’s not some new aversion to stylization
Yeah pretty much this. Though I absolutely do enjoy these PS2 era remakes, I want more of them lol. Imagine a Need For Speed Most Wanted remake
“I absolutely do enjoy these PS2 era remakes, I want more of them”
Style = risk, and risk is unacceptable for remakes. The goal is to be just inoffensive enough to milk fans for all they’re worth.
Kojima and company were really proud of CQC in 3 it’s on the title and everything.
MGS here keeps true to the spirit of showing off your sick technical advances, it’s just that instead of insanely fluid CQC-Animations we now get Asset Flip UE slop.
Because consoles now load you directly into the game as opposed to a title screen, so players don’t see it as much. I do wish title screens were more fun, though. Can someone more knowledgeable than me explain how title screens are rendered in modern titles?
The title screens that show the game are sometimes hiding shader compilation.
Konami still owns the patent for interactive title screens I think, so you can’t do anything too fun
How the fuck can you patent that?
It expired 10 years ago actually…
They specifically patented auxiliary games (a have that has code separate from the main game) that exist during loading of the main game. Is was only used once I think, then they sat on it forever and sued some people, so no one did it.
Same way Bamco owned the rights for interactive loading screens/minigames for years, until like 2015
That’s the one I was thinking of, got the company wrong lol
I like title screens that have 3d backgrounds. It looks nice and inviting. Static images tend to look pixelated and low quality.
Both original title screens are animated, the still screen caps don’t entirely do them justice. Here’s the MGS3 one:
Also the title screen in mgs3 was interactive. You could slow down and speed up the animation if you wanted to make it look like Zack Snyder and change the background color and other weird shit
