When the obvious culprit is the combo of patriarchy and capitalism.
- Capitalism says: “Only economic actors matter”
- Patriarchy adds: “Only men are allowed to be economic actors”
- What some thoughtless men hear: “Wow, I’m the only one who matters? That sounds so cool!”
- What some critical thinkers hear: “So men are not supposed to be anything other than an economic machine? No creativity, no emotions, no family, no friends? That sounds like a nightmare.”
It blows to grow up and realize you were socialized in a society that at some level views you as little more than fuel to be burned for the military industrial complex
Or I’m actually just lonely.
