Nintendo is gradually revealing what it has planned for all of its flagship series during the Switch 2’s launch year, and today, during an hour-long Direct, it was Fire Emblem’s turn. Nintendo revealed that its next Fire Emblem project will be Fortune’s Weave, an entirely new entry in the series.
As is often the case for Fire Emblem games, the bulk of Fortune’s Weave’s debut trailer revealed an all-new cast of characters. However, there is at least one familiar face making a return - Sothis. Sothis was shown sitting on a throne at the end of the trailer, suggesting this could well be a direct sequel to Three Houses.
Nintendo didn’t provide an exact release date for Fortune’s Weave, just that it will be here in 2026. It will also be a Switch 2 exclusive, suggesting that the Fire Emblem series may already be moving on from Nintendo’s last-gen hardware.

My guesstimation of the story is it’s either most likely taking place beyond Fodlan or least likely taking place in Fodlan but right around or before the rebellion of Nemesis.

Young adult Sothis makes me think this’ll be a distant future thing - like how Awakening had young adult Tiki (who was a kid in the original game)
It could be. It throws me off because that could be Sothis at the height of her power in the distant past, or Sothis after a timelapse down the road of 3 houses but somehow beyond Fodlan’s locket
