As a sidebar, why the fuck is Unreal Engine 5 so popular? I feel like every game I’ve seen use it ends up being a buggy unoptimized mess.
Opting for UE with its wide compatibility and user base can speed up development but you’ll still need to allot ressources to optimising which becomes harder and harder the bigger the product and the farther it is in development. Look at Eriksholm, it looks beautiful and runs with 60fps even on a Steamdeck.

This comment makes me think of Dune Awakening which had so many movement related bugs and no first person view. Somehow just the engine seems too awful for developers to use. Or maybe just picking it is a sign you dont care about the game
Code your own engine. What a grown up response to all this. Expected nothing less from him.
His people didn’t make their own engine; Borderlands 4 is built with UE5, and based on the performance complaints it sounds like they’re using wrong (not that UE5 is super performant when used right).
Way ahead of you Randy. By about five or six engines over the years, depending on how one does the counting.

Who cares about this guy and his garbage game. The most interesting stuff being done in the gaming space is NOT coming from studios and people like him.
Some people can benefit from staying silent, fixing things up, and then turning up with results.
If Randy had the ability to turn up with results, he wouldn’t be known as a douchebag who says incredibly stupid things while insulting his customers. This isn’t his first sperg out because people pointed out his incompetence, it won’t be his last.
