Cats have an instictual response to a specific patch on the back of their neck being pinched. Their mothers carry them by that part when they’re kittens, and the response keeps them still. Male cats also bite female cats there during mating. It can be used to functionally restrain a cat, though doing so unnecessarily is just gonna stress the cat out so it’s generally not recommended

Why do i feel like I was watching a How To Basic video? I was expecting the cat to be pelted by eggs by the end.

Fortunately I think they were plastic, the way they flexed and sprang back.

Poor baby. But flea-free now, and probably won’t need another.

That’s straight up animal torture. The fuck is wrong with OP and the comments below? This is horrifying for the cat, and missing any context makes this even worse…

Stray cat got washed before being placed in a shelter. The context is in the video. And yes, washing can be horrifying for cats, and they should’ve at least tried to make it less scary. But at the end of the day, it has to be done for health reasons, just whoever recorded it is weird for being unprepared/not knowledgeable enough (to completely lock the room at least).

In their defense, if this cat was already scared shitless of showers there’s not much you can do, and if they’re young and smart enough it’s gonna be fine (mentally). Very resilient creatures. I just hope they didn’t ruin bathing for this fella.

To give everyone here the benefit of the doubt, the first bottle seems to be a pet shampoo for getting rid of mites and ticks (the second is just a regular delicate soap). It could quite plausibly be that the poor thing had a bad infestation and stopped trying to escape when it realised it was feeling better. If that is the case then it’ll be freaked out but definitely better off for it
