in my opinion, It’s the same bullshit she pulled during the election. She’s trying to appeal to the other side by using one of their buzzwords instead of backing up the people that actually want to support her. It’s literally yelling at a brick wall at this point.
Maybe I’m missing it in the article, but I’m not seeing that Harris ever said Trump is a communist. She said he’s a tyrant and that we used to compare our leaders to communist leaders, but I didn’t see her ever actually call him or really even insinuate that he’s a communist. I could have missed the quote or maybe the quote was not included.
We used to compare the strength of our democracy to communist dictators. That’s what we’re dealing with right now in Donald Trump. And these titans of industry are not speaking up!

I’m only being pedantic because the media is just running with this story that Harris says trump is a commie, and it’s not quite true. I’d argue she’s more comparing our government under Trump to that under a communist dictator. It’s not a big difference, but I think the weight of her statement is that Trump is a dictator not that he’s a communist. I don’t think that use of the word “communism” was an accident because it does stir some emotions in Americans because for 70+ years we’ve been ingrained with the idea that communism == dictatorship.
Trump is a piece of shit, waste of oxygen, dictator wannabe and Putin puppet, but he’s not a communist, and I think that this narrative takes the current situation and dilutes it a little bit. The thing she’s doing is comparing him to dictators, Communist is kind of a passing flag. The huge stupidity of the statement is expectations that the "titans of industry"would speak up. You’re maybe misunderstanding me slightly, it’s difficult to covey tone via text. It’s not that it bothers me, it’s that you’re not Diogenes, who had a difficult enough time of what you’re proposing in the 4th cen. B.C… If you hate corpos like a lot of us, completely withdrawing from general societal activities isn’t sticking it to them, they’re already losing the profits gained from the business of people who they’re ruining by driving into poverty, or those who boycott them, and are largely unaffected by it.
It’s a moral & philosophical decision, I get it, but you’re not having an effect on them or their bottom line anymore than someone breaking their hands by pounding on a stone wall. Living in self-imposed deprivation will likely have the same effect on you as anyone else who’s had it imposed on them, which is to say that it will endanger you and your overall health in a potentially significant way by shaving decades off it in a worst case scenario.

To me it’s very clear the sentiment behind what she said was that Trump is acting exactly like the dictatorial leaders of the communist nations that America has been fighting against and villainizing for the last 50 years: the USSR, north Korea, communist China, etc.
