I just learned in the other thread about German music that Scorpions are German (I always assumed they were British or American). Is there any other artist you didn't know was European until very late

Despite the fact that you clearly mentioned music in your title, it took me longer than I’d like to admit to realize you weren’t claiming that scorpions were indigenous to Germany

Alphaville, known for “Big in Japan” and “Forever Young,” also hail from Germany.

    Kraftwerk obviously too.

I was surprised to find that Robert Palmer was British. I had him down as American.

There’s an uncomfortable insinuation about the meaning of “European” lurking in this question.

Can’t say about musicians, but I remember being surprised a lot when I was young. It’s the actors that get me. First time I saw behinds the scenes footage of Black Hawk Down, “They’re ALL British?!”
