I’d never considered this before, but I got a batch of screens that includes steel and copper (I’ve always used copper), and I’m wondering what’s the difference? Is there a benefit to either? Thanks!
I use glass screens. It’s like a little glass jack that prevents crap from going down the pipe.
Inhaling copper fumes (copper oxides) released at high temperatures can be a health risk. So just to be careful I’d use the steel screens which are less reactive.
Steel would last longer and not taste as bad. I prefer the steel disc’s over screens. They clog quickly, but basically last forever.

I haven’t used a screen in 30-ought years. Turns out that you don’t really need it. It makes your weed taste like shit. Brass or steel it doesn’t matter.
Makes it a lot easier to clean and also to burn evenly. I use stainless steel screens like this and I don’t taste anything other than green.
I don’t know what you’re smoking out of that adding an extra thing to clean makes it easier somehow, but I’ve been smoking weed a long time. There’s a very good reason I stopped using screens.
And maybe you can’t taste it, but I certainly could
But you do you
Most of the gunk is on the screen which I can take out. If my plug nug gets gunked in there I need a pokey tool to get it out, or, just as bad, it falls into the water and gunks up my water. I don’t like chunks in my bong water. Gets stuck between my teeth when I drink it after the sesh.
Look, I’m gonna start by apologizing if I came off as judgmental. You smoke your weed the way you love it buddy and I’m no one to tell you other so I am very much apologize if I came off shitty.
Again, you don’t really need the screen, and it’s just another layer between you and your weed. But if it works for you, if it’s something you feel useful and helpful, go with it. Don’t think you need to convince me of anything you do you and I’m sorry for sounding like I was being an asshole.
