Steampunk is the healthiest way to eat your punk.
I thought we were having steamed clams?
Ohh no, I said steam punk. That’s what I call industrial retrofuturistic aesthetics.
Uh, huh…and you call it that despite it obviously being a style of design and fashion that combines historical elements with anachronistic technological features inspired by science fiction?
Yes, it’s a regional dialect.
May I see it?
Well @HonoraryMancunian@lemmy.world , you’re an odd fellow, but I must say- you steam a good punk.
Maybe, but I had some really good frypunk at the State Fair…
Frypunk doesn’t have corsets and waist coats, it has Spanx and Rascal Scooters.
What about Punk Fry?
I think that was Norm MacDonald, right?
Yup. RIP
Steampunk asks the question “what if goth, only in brown?”
Imagine dressing every day in green clothes covered in microchips and LCDs and li-ion batteries
If everyone covered themselves in lithium ion batteries, gun fights in movies would get way more spectacular.
flesh wound “I’m alright!” burst into flames
Naomi Wu is typing…
I wonder what those boobs have to say, assuming they get in the way being so huge.
She even moves her arms oddly like they are actually so big they limit her movement. It’s something alright
Naiomi Wu’s boobs are running the show now. She died years ago to allow them to take over.
I need the stl of her body as a test print whenever my printer needs maintenance again xD
Hot
Why would I imagine my workday?
I don’t see where horny comes into this. Steampunk is generally Victorian dress, teched up a bit.
Maybe it’s just me, but when I think of steampunk, I imagine women wearing the bottom half of a dress and a corset. Usually corsets are worn under clothing and is similar to a bra. It doesn’t help that lingerie is very similar in appearance to corsets
Also, useless gears on every single thing, even if they don’t move. And tophats with a pair of goggles while also having a pair of goggles of the same type on the neck. And there are gears on the tophat of course.
Still shuddering about Clockwork Planet where t hey somehow rebuild an another planet mostly with gears and everywhere are just gears stack on top of each other connecting to nothing. It’s just gears all the way down, because, that’s how it works.
I love the casual disregard for questions about what happens when one of those gears jams.
Naturally. You need goggles for your goggles!
This is of course in addition to the goggles he wears over his eyes
When I think “steampunk costume” my mind kinda leaps to “Wild west technohooker.”
Jim West, Desperado
🎵 Just glue some gears on it, and call it steam punk 🎵
🎵 That’s the trendy fashion nowadays! 🎵
Its the women who put on a corset and use it to smash their tiddies way up under their chin… also a significant portion who decide that knee high high heeled boots, long skirts that have a split very high on the thigh and fishnets complete the ensemble.
Its less victorian and more cowboy era saloon prostitute, but you dont hear me complaining.
Horny “about” it. It’s just slang that means people like it, possibly to an excessive degree. Like I would say I’m horny for SoulsBorne games…
Maybe that’s what horny means to you Netherlands types but that’s not what it means here! Here, it means wild west technohookers! Like that other guy said!
Both interpretations work
The fediverse is free and open! I’m not from/in the Netherlands…
“Sir, we could use steam to power this-“
Hat.
“sigh…I’ll get the cog wheels.”“Sir, you’ve run the steam pipes directly into your goggles.”
“I have a theory that the steam will reheat the low levels of light to daylight brightness and provide night vision!”
“Sir, I don’t know how scientifically sound that…”
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaagh
I’m not gonna lie. I would watch the hell out of a show where wacky steam punk inventors find out about the unfortunate laws of physics and thermodynamics.
When breaking it down it down technology actually IS just hot water and clocks.

Praise the sun!
Until you get the nuclear power and then it’s power from a dead sun.
My clock got hot water everywhere
Yeah, but think about it. Most energy nowadays comes from basically very hot water (steam) that runs through a turbine-driven generator. And integrated circuits are just very complex clocks.
Burn coal, make steam, use steam to turn tubine, generate electricity, transmit electricity, receive electricity, pump into alarm clock, vibrate crystal, count vibrations, tell time. Checks out.
So basically modern day technology is Steampunk?
If there was a sub for this kind of standup comedy post id subscribe
Yeah, I get that it isn’t exactly a meme, but I wanted to share and I didn’t know a more appropriate community.
There isn’t one, this is the best place for it for now. But if someone wanted to start a new community for stand up posts I’d join
Be the sub you want to see in the world.
Also tag me, I’d subscribe.
The irony is intentional :)
What kind of steampunk is he into.
Asking for a friend?
I’m asking for sauce.
