Nice. For those that don’t know, @Zagorath@aussie.zone is posting the classic novel Dracula “as it occurs” because it’s an epistolary novel i.e. written as if was a series of diary entries or postal letters which begins in May and ends in a couple months. Anyway we’re currently in a several-days delay, so it’s a great time to catch up!
That’s one way of thinking about it. There are plenty others, and it’s not clear which is right.
“Welcome to your first day on the job, Sergio! We’ll just finish setting up your accounts. First, enter THE STREET YOU GREW UP ON!”
“What!? NOOOO… oh god… ok… ok I can do this.”
“Great, now think about YOUR FIRST BEST FRIEND!!!”
“Oh no please-- watch out for-- watch out-- why why why…”
“Wonderful! Now think about YOUR FIRST TOY!”
(breaks down sobbing uncontrollablly) “I can’t… I can’t do this…” (runs out of the building, wakes up the next day in an alley with an empty bottle of whiskey.)
Seriously, who are these people with idyllic childhoods who came up with these questions? Fuck em.
I think it’s uplifting bc it shows that the mods have gone on a very long vacation.
Here you go.
Most are currently active (except for the ones with a * which were less active last I checked) Sometimes politics, tech or memes sneak in but they’re not the focus.

killer song and video:
Poltava is pretty good too:
The song currently playing on repeat in my head is Send in the Clowns by Insane Clown Posse.
When there’s too much hatred in the world
When the public makes you wanna hurl
When you realize all you feel is pain
When you always lose while the rest gain
When you feel alone in a crowded room
When the only thing you crave is doom
When you gotta get high to survive
That’s the only time you feel alive
When between your ears is a hurricane
You gotta fantasize she knows your name
When you don’t believe and they say “try”
All the cool shit you’ve done are lies
When causing you pain makes them feel good
They would kill you and walk if they could
When makin’ sense makes no sense at all
Is when you hold the grease paint stick and draw that smile
HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA–
Out of the homies, back to the homies. It’s the cycle of life.
Well, this is slightly better than the “horrible thing happens to horrible person doing horrible thing” that is usually passed off as “uplifting” here.
The big question is: did it make “that sound” or not.
There’s a nonzero chance that person will see this comic strip!
Yeah it’s a terrible feeling giving up a sport bc it’s too hard on ya. Like I really love Judo but I just can’t throw myself at the floor repeatedly any more. But I might be able to do Aikido or low-contact Karate (or just strength training which is what I chose). The trick is knowing when to move on, and it’s a tough decision.
Sounds like we should never go to Camelot for 'tis a silly place.
I was watching a youtube movie review and I didn’t realize it was AI til it started using the term “self-delete”.
Dunno, decades of enshittification might happen overnight, like a singularity. A shitgularity, as it were.
But Comcast/Xfinity is truly, truly horrible. Their tech support sucks and there are some account-related things you need to talk to them for. I feel stressed just thinking about it.
Still trying to wrap my head around how a partial ordering plays out here. I think it’s fair to say that for any such nonempty spectrum, there exists at least one person about whom it can be said: “nobody is gayer than they are.” Right? (even if 1 or more people are equally gay…)
Mr Chad McTruth, what’s the most truthful truth you’ve ever told?
