That makes sense. I wish we had that here, but I’m happy they at least are required by law in my state to tell people about the surcharge.

Oh the hummingbird wars are highly entertaining. I’ve found it much easier to grow plants in the ground vs in pots, although I can grow flowers in pots.
You’re very welcome and I hope you have a wonderful week!
Recently, I’ve actually found the opposite to be true in the US. Smaller places prefer cash because they can avoid the CC fees that they get charged for every single swipe. Many places have a sign at the register that they add an additional ~3% to the bill to cover fees which it can be avoided by paying in cash. I’ve started using cash over the last year to avoid the additional charges, especially for takeout.
Every Saturday and Sunday morning, I do my gardening.
I spend a few hours pruning my tomato plants, adding clips to hold up cucumber vines, check my eggplant and zucchinis, spray everything down because it all has powdery mildew, and I water all of my potted herbs and flowers. I start early, like 6:30-7am because no one is awake and all I can hear are birds chirping*. Eventually, the neighbors wake up and I can smell bacon cooking before I go inside and make my own breakfast.
*the birds chirping are usually from the hummingbird wars that take place on the hill behind my house. They zoom fast overhead and attack each other behind the hibiscus fence.
I once knew a woman who was just under 5 feet and wore women’s size 10 shoes (men’s 8). She called herself a hobbit all the time.
I love this!
I have a handful of stuffed animals, but my most prized ones are Teddy the bear that my pop-pop gave me at the hospital when I was born and a cat that my grandmother hand stitched, she made one for each of her grandchildren and mine is one of few that are still around. I’m 41 and I have also never been ashamed 😊
My high school experience started with Columbine freshman year and ended with 9/11 senior year. Life has been so crazy.
Epistory and Nanotales
Both fantastic games with beautiful graphics and good for typing practice.
Most garden centers carry it. I used Monterey B.t. spray for a really bad inchworm infestation. It worked really well, but it does stink.
I’m still working through Kushiel’s Avatar by Jacqueline Carey. I love the series, I just read her writing style pretty slowly.
Also working through Cibola Burn by James S.A. Corey audiobook. I’m rereading the whole Expanse series in publication order, including the short stories.
I’m also thinking of starting The Expanse: Dragon Tooth graphic novels since I have a really nice boxed set from the Kickstarter.
This one is on my list because I loved The Expanse so much
I think it holds up pretty well. I actually enjoyed the second book more than the first because the MC is a little bit older and really grows throughout the story. The third one also has a time gap between books and I’m enjoying it a lot too. I love the political intrigue!
My experience has been similar. I work in the office 1-2 days a week and it’s just the right amount for me. More than that, I start getting frustrated with the commute. Less than that, my mood plummets very quickly.
Hybrid working has been the best for me.
I started Kushiel’s Avatar by Jacqueline Carey over the weekend. I’m excited to read what happens in this arc of the story.
I’m also reading All Systems Red by Martha Wells via audiobook for the first time because of the show. I’m really enjoying both the books and the show.
I’ve been interested to see what kids read today, so I’ve been picking them up at my library. They are fun!
I’m currently reading Ice Planet Barbarians by Ruby Dixon. I recently finished The Stars Are Legion by Kameron Hurley which is a scifi-horror with really heavy topics and events. A few were moments pretty disturbing but it’s a great book, I recommend it.
IPB is my palate cleanser before finishing off the third Kushiel book, which also has somewhat heavy topics in places. I try to read lighter books in between my heavy stuff. I just needed something that didn’t have too much death, mutilation, and dismemberment lol
Lion-O and Poppy. Please excuse the random coco puffs, they are bunnies. IYKYK
Currently reading: Diary of a Wimpy Kid The Meltdown by Jeff Kinney Artificial Condition by Martha Wells Cibola Burn by James SA Corey (audiobook reread)
Recently finished: The Stars Too Fondly by Emily Hamilton Stars are Legion by Kameron Hurley (really good book, but some of it was disturbing)
I still need to read the third book of the Kushiel series by Jacqueline Carey, but I’ve been in the mood for more science fiction lately.
American Fiction (2023)
I have wanted to watch it for a while, so I was happy to see the Blu-ray available at my local library. I really enjoyed it, it was a great critique on the publishing industry and how the major ones treat African-American authors. I laughed so many times, good full belly laughs too.
Super Mario Bros (1993)
I managed to snag this on DVD at Barnes and Noble. It’s one of my favorites, even though I know it’s terrible. I recommended it to the gal at the register because it’s a great bad movie.
