From what I remember, they were going to “use AI” to handle moderation. It felt like a grift from the beginning

World News@lemmy.world•Supreme Court: India top court rejects menstrual leave petition saying 'no-one will hire women'English
4·20 hours agoWe have mandatory paid sick days, and while it’s not quite the same thing, it does simplify things for the workers. Instead of a patchwork of different laws and workplace rules that might let some people fall through the cracks, everyone knows that they have X number of days that they can use (with documentation). That’s what I thought the other user was referring to

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•(Roughly) how old are you and how did you come to be on Lemmy?
31·23 hours agoThis is one of the questions we asked on our census this year. We are still working on cleaning the data, and we may exclude additional responses if we identify more duplicates / errors, but here is a preview of those results:

It depends on the field and where you are in your career. From my university, it seemed like the computer science and business people needed to be on LinkedIn, while the other sciences did not. It also becomes less important as you progress in your career, since there will be better ways to share your experience
Fingerprint readers and touchscreens can be hit or miss for Linux support.
I think this is a list of supported readers. When you get a shortlist of devices you want to purchase, compare its fingerprint reader with this list: https://fprint.freedesktop.org/supported-devices.html
It made me think of this webcomic

It happens to me sometimes when I open it without being logged in. I usually close the video, it’s not worth the effort to find it again on the logged in session.

Technology@lemmy.world•After outages, Amazon to make senior engineers sign off on AI-assisted changesEnglish
75·3 days ago…
Do the senior engineers NOT sign off on changes to systems that can take down the production servers? Even if we take out the LLM created code, this sounds like a bigger problem
Brushing is an actual scam / deceitful practice, which involves receiving items you didn’t order
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brushing_(e-commerce)
It doesn’t usually happen with beans
Nice photos, the last one could be a meme template 😄
Isn’t upscrolled similar to TikTok? If so, there is already a fediverse platform like it, made by the Pixelfed developer
Is this what you had in mind?

World News@quokk.au•Trump says he believes bombing of Iranian girls' school was "done by Iran"
7·6 days agoPretty much any article or headline that includes “Trump says”, is not worth reading
This is nice, but I think it belongs in a different community like !pics@lemmy.world

World News@lemmy.world•“You cannot blockade the sun”: how to help Cuba’s green transitionEnglish
2·6 days agoSure, but I don’t think we can produce enough from our current greenhouses. Definitely not enough to also sustain all the meat/dairy people consume. Also not all crops grow nicely in greenhouses

Firefox@lemmy.ml•Mozilla is working on a big Firefox redesign, here is what it looks like
2·6 days agoAh sorry I meant the screenshots from the article, I should have specified.
I like yours. Best for me would be something with that layout and spacing, and modern design elements

Firefox@lemmy.ml•Mozilla is working on a big Firefox redesign, here is what it looks like
2·6 days agoI wasn’t that interested in rounded corners for a while, but I do see some value in it now. When it’s done well, the UI becomes more usable and intuitive. The problem is when a lot of GUIs do it poorly in order to be trendy.
It helps with the grouping of visual elements for one, for Gestalt reasons
Zen browser has iterated to something pretty good now: https://zen-browser.app/
The
Firefoxredesign screenshot from the article has a few issues imo. The floating task bar doesn’t make sense to me, since that’s a core part of the program. The other items are either attached or contained within it, it shouldn’t be isolated off like that. Otherwise yea, too much wasted space

Fediverse@piefed.social•Do you have any personal goals for growing/building the Fediverse?English
4·7 days agoI’ve been scheduling posts fairly regularly on my non-admin account. When I left Reddit, I started following a number of RSS feeds and newsletters, so there’s always one or two things each day worth sharing (and usually more when I skip a few days).
Otherwise I’m hoping to spread more of the positivity that I got when I started out here :)

Definitely do not pay for a bloatware remove tool… That sounds like paid malware.
Also be careful with any advertisement that says it will remove bloatware. It’s likely also malware
There are some popular open source / source available scripts that are more reliable. Someone else mentioned one in this thread
