A manipulation technique used to exclude certain topics and opinions from acceptable discourse and categorize them as “tinfoil hat theories”. It involves spreading such opinions along with obviously nonsensical argumentation, and then generating spectacular discussion around debunking of that argumentation, to the point where anyone who brings up a forbidden topic without ritually disassociating themselves from it is treated as unworthy of being heard.
A fictional example: the campaign to fight against the use of glyphosate, based on arguments that it is an ingredient in a binary weapon designed to turn consumers into government-obedient zombies. After a year of campaigning, anyone who starts talking about the harms of glyphosate is - regardless of the argument - automatically classified as a tinfoil, a fool, or a fraud.
