I tried going to a queer bar a few times, but idk if I feel confident going back without friends.
I don’t, friends make it safer, and even if everything’s benign are a great support network.
There’s usually queer events that are more reasonable solo, partly because they don’t involve drinking. Queer dance events, book groups, and roller skating are some of my favorite.
Only trouble is none of my queer friends are local. He’ll, even the bar isn’t, I had to drive for a while just to get there. There are no queer events around me.
Ive gone to a few queer scene things and queer bars alone (even before cracking my egg, as a nominally cishet man does apparently how the fuck did I not crack until so many years later lol)- Im confident and I can make friends pretty easily and I have my head on a swivel for fucked up shit and am not afraid to bug out if even just the vibes are off.
I still like having friends come out but solo can be fun!
