I posted about my Legion Imperialis project (Warhammer 30k) a while ago.

Here we have two bases of Tech-Thralls from the Mechanicum faction all painted up.

This is just a test paint job so I might do some touchups later. I think Im going to try a brighter red next time on the other models.

I only need ten of the Techthralls for my army, so the overall work isnt too bad.

I havent painted minis in ages, and Im completely new to the 8mm scale its definitely a interesting change of pace.

I agree with the brighter red. Grimdark, yes, but I think the red will help the silhouette pop more, especially when it’s not in a lightbox.

I’m very, very slowly working on my Necrons. First army and first time painting minis so it’s been more research than practice at this point. I’m still trying to get a feel for getting my paints to the right level of watered-down.

I actually had them in a very light almost pinkish red at the start but gave them a wash with agrax shade which made them darker. (I prefer the darker color but atm I agree they are a level to dark after the wash)

So I could either try and give them a 2nd highlight… which is probably gonna be a pain with minis of this size or just use a brighter red from the get go.

I already use a light (bone colored primer). Im used to black primers but I felt minis of this size need brighter colors to “pop” as you said.

I just primed a bunch of different minis not even part of this project but I want to have some stuff to paint during my winter vacation.

You should post some of your Necrons . I will probably keep posting here and there while I paint stuff and experiment.
