Heresy is stored in the balls
Just your average office drone trying to make it under late-stage capitalism.
Heresy is stored in the balls
While X4 looks cool just from a glance it seems like a game I would need to watch a 3h youtube guide first just to get a basic understanding of the game. (Not opposed to do the work to get into the game …just dont really have the time for that atm)
Thanks for the recommendation though.
I will watch it. Even if it will be bad
Yeah I think its best played in smaller sessions instead of rushing through it. Give it time to breath so to speak.
Mind you I played it all the way back around release.
Nah its Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2 or maybe Peggle
Thats what im talking about
Well, Caves of Qud was in Early Access (it just hit version 1.0 in December). I also agree that waiting 6 months to play a game or even a year is often totally worth it—unless you’re a massive fan or really want to be part of the zeitgeist and play a game on day one for some reason.
I have played Ruiner . Back when it released… I liked it quite a bit (nice atmoshere and gameplay) not sure If I remember it being thaaaat special though ? Like I enjoyed the story etc. or what I remember.
What did you like about it OP ?
I would be interested. Not 100% sure if I can commit yet -but I am certainly very curious. I have only finished 2 small games against the AI so far. I would still rank myself as complete beginner.
Edit 2 - Scratch that. I wanna play Dom6 regardless of player numbers if you are interested.
Out of the games that released in 2024 I recommend all 4 of these
Dominions 6 probably my GOTY could become an top 5 game of alltime for me
Caves of Qud - 17 years in the making. Traditional roguelike in a science-fantasy world
Balatro -card game that is pure bliss
1000xRESIST (kinda lib politics but otherwise amazing story or so I heard) havent played it much yet -so no spoilers please
EDIT. I can write a bit more if there is interest

The AAA gaming sphere is fucked and likely wont become healthy again under the current system. I agree that the overall direction and trend is really fucking bad.
BUUUUT
WITH that said. Do I care? Not really. Some of the finest gaming in the entire industry is found in the indie gaming sphere. Just take some of my personal faves of 2024
Dominions 6 a massive 4X/wargame
Caves of Qud a traditional roguelike in an open world with great world-building 15 years in the making
Balatro an excellent card game
These are just some games I myself like. These are 3 games that released this year 2024. Every one of them would be deserving of a 9 or even 10/10. On top of that, these are games you could spend hundreds of hours in if you enjoyed them.
Indie games are better than ever. There are more than ever. We are kinda living in a golden age in that respect. Not even sure if it will stay that way… but even if it won’t, the amount of high-quality stuff coming out will keep me occupied for years to come.
You can say the AAA game industry is broken and I agree, but in exchange, one also has to look at the indie scene and realize we are getting about 10-20 or more awesome indie games a year.
In short- I would rather spend my time enjoying indies and talking about them then lamenting the death of the AAA game.
I’m finally giving Dominions 6 a proper shot! I played a bit of Dominions 5 before, but I never got particularly good at it or tried multiplayer.
This time, Im planning to dip into multiplayer if I end up enjoying it.
If you’re not familiar with the series, it’s an indie 4X/wargame that started way back in 2001. It’s made by just two devs (super indie vibes), and each new entry has only gotten bigger and better. At this point, there are around 100 playable fantasy nations, which is just massive.
So whats Dominions 6 about? You’re basically a god—you create your own god at the start of the game—and you pick a mythological nation to lead. The goal is to take control of the Thrones of Ascension or become the top god by eliminating the others. Conquer their lands, snuff out their dominion, or claim the Thrones—your path to victory is up to you.
It sounds deceptively simple, but from the moment you choose your nation and create your pretender god, you’ll face a myriad strategic decisions. The graphics feel comfy to me, though many will call them outdated. There is a massive magic system as well. I probably should make a thread about Dominons 6 at some point.
I will follow this thread with great interest.
In which ways did you find FP2 worse ? . Cause I didnt enjoy Frostpunk 1 that much and at least on paper Frostpunk 2 looks more interesting to me. Its obviously possible that neither FP1 or FP2 are the right game for me.
How much content / replay value is there in Frostpunk 2 ? Can I experience most of the game in just 10hours or is there much more than that ? So in terms of scope its much grander than the first game right ? Like I can control even multiple cities and have to juggle different factions ? Is the interaction with these factions fun (for a lack of a better word?)
I heard some folks say it even goes a bit into the direction of 4x games maybe.
Any input is welcome
I might be wrong but I think that Frostpunk 1 criticizes your choices not matter what you do at the end.
I dont care that much wether the politics in Frostpunk 2 are good. I just enjoy the concept of trying to manage different political factions ingames.
I played the first one for a bit and it was like a survival city builder. Is the 2nd Frostpunk more like a political sim ? If thats the case its gonna be hard to resist NOT playing it. Is it more sandboxy or story focused ? In short. Can I get a rundown how it is ?
I dont care for most city builders (like I did enjoy tropico for example) but Im not really into cities skylines stuff I think at least.
If Frostpunk 2 feels more like a politics game I would be VERY interested (the very reason why some fans of frostpunk 1 dislike game 2 might be why it could be perfect for me I guess)
FUCK. You make me feel like I need to go and play it right now but I already have so many games
Kind of a bad look Sonic
