I actually find the answer incredibly funny and witty. I could see myself saying what he said but in an entirely sarcastic and mocking tone, basically making fun of that whole super macho male stereotype. Had a woman responded to me that way, I would have been smitten.

If he demands to be the breadwinner because he’s a man, then what role is actually left for his partner other than bread eater?

One can’t be like “I will do the work and provide for you, but you cannot be content being provided for”, because that’s just absolutely braindead.

“Traditional” gender roles say the man is the “breadwinner” and the woman cares for the house.

I’d bet he was picking an argument and expected her to say that she planned to work. Maybe there was some hope that someone desiring to be a trad wife wouldn’t find the first message off putting, but my money says his main goal was arguing and he blocked her because she’s cleverer than he.

I’m just a bit baffled tbh, do you reckon he was asking “what’s your role” as a rhetorical question? Because there’s no way he genuinely cares what she says, right?

I guess… Unless her profile said “as a man you must be the breadwinner”, or gave off similar vibes to that? And that’s what he was responding to, as a reply to her and not just a total bolt from the blue?

Just such a weird message 😂

This has given me a hilarious mental image. For whatever reason, you and your wife are discussing who should be the one to take on more hours at work. The choice shall be defined by something akin to gladiatorial combat. On a pedestal above you is a fancy loaf of bread. When the battle finishes, the winner cheers and holds the bread over their head like a wrestling championship belt

    • Also holy fck, westerners are so transactional, they need a bussiness agreement for marriage.

“Westerners” LOLOL. Its not just westerners, its conservatism.

Lemme introduce you to my 祖国 (Homeland), China.

Before a guy married a girl, he is expected to provide housing and must have money (aka: stable income).

They actually make skits on Chinese social media making fun of this: Guy and Girl is on a date, girl asks: “Do you have a house, a car? What is your occupation and income?” If answers are unsatisfactory, the girl leaves. This is basically my parents (arranged) marriage in a nutshell, my paternal grandparents help my father get funding for housing. Marriage is expected in society, and it is very much transactional, probably explain why they argue so fucking much.

Even parental love is very much transactional. “Obey me, or else we won’t love you”

As someone who doesn’t have much care about words, it’s always interesting to see into the mind and history of people who are easily angered by words.

I’m honestly not too sure where else to post this kind of content. ‘Witches vs Patriarchy’ does seem like it should be more witchy content than this. But there’s no plethora of ‘blatant misogyny’ and ‘men and females’ type communities here like Reddit. And !feminism@beehaw.org seems like it’s more for articles and things of actual substance than memes or screenshots.

It’s so funny that you want a “blatant misogyny” community, while if there was a “blatant misandry” community all of you hags would brigade it, therefore proving it needs to exist.

You just want to shit on all men by generalising from a small sample size, that being your incredibly narrow anecdotal evidence. Go to hell.

Which misandrist group chat are you talking about? This comment thread between you and me, which contains no misandry but does contain you repeatedly and pointedly calling women hags?

Also, I know this is much of a muchness, but I’m a cis man, you dickhead. There are plenty of guys who don’t like the way that guys like you talk about women and whine about how difficult it is to be a man when women complain about some men being hateful.

So many men are sick of hearing other men like you berate and belittle and sideline women, and of hearing men like you only ever bring up the real issues that do affect men to try and use them as a stick to beat women with when they’re complaining about issues affecting them.

                You’re pathetic. You’re a sad, little loser.

    I doughn’t know if I want a man who isn’t well-bread. A rye sense of humour helps.

I’m so confused. If my guy over there likes to pose all cocky and stupid, just what kind of answers is he expecting to get? Because hers is just perfect… I reckon most people would just instantly block the guy.
