No, it’s built on top of corruption and human rights violations. The conservative estimate is that 6,500 people have died to make the WC happen - The higher estimates say 15-20,000.

64 matches in the WC. A rough estimate including overtime is around 100 minutes average per game. 6,500/64=101.56. Average 100 minutes per match / Average deaths per match=

1.01 deaths per minute of soccer played.

It seems to me that anybody watching and enjoying the WC have some serious problems with their ethical faculties and a severe lack of empathy. It seems sociopathic to enjoy this WC.

Most have no idea. The people with issues are capitalists, government, soccer teams, …

Everyone involved is partially responsible. This goes for everything, and I feel my small part of responsibility for our state media paying for WC licences despite me being very against it.

That’s because you have enough information. Most watching do not; and they are not the ones who decide to fund it. If people could directly choose in a transparent way what to do with their taxes, do you think most would actively and authentically choose to fund it?

No. But it has nothing to do with Qatar, soccer is just too boring. Although I think that with all the issues regarding human rights violations and slavery labour, a boycott is a valid approach.

No. Even if it weren’t for the whole Qatar kerfuffle, I still wouldn’t watch it, because I find watching soccer dreadfully boring.

In general, I watch the very last couple of games because that’s usually when lots of people around me are excited about it and watching it.

With this year’s one, I’m so grossed out by its ecological and social insanity that I don’t really want to.

No (I do not consume anything sports unless it is for learning purposes). I like playing soccer though
