Don’t dox yourself. Try to limit your information to a Maidenhead locator or general area of at least a few kilometers in an urban area and a few dozen in rural areas.
I’m from South Hesse, in Germany. Some of the most regarded German comedians (yes, they exist) are from around here and we have a pretty diverse culture, both traditionally German and from immigrants.
So, where do you live and how is it?
I mostly live in the state of exhaustion, though sometimes I get to visit the land of dreams.
Eventually, I expect to move permanently into the undiscovered country…
…I’m just not sure when.
This gave me a good chuckle
Western beautiful mountainous Maine USA.
I grew up in the general area of Farmington. I found it a lot less beautiful when the snowbanks got six feet tall.
Farmington is right up the road from me. I hate winter and have plans to skip them.
Quebec, Canada. The land of poutine.
Things are okay but I feel like there’s still a bunch of issues here politically and culturally.
Im from Romania in the Moldova area a good drive away from the city Iasi
@fishy_2_0 Hai noroc!
salut nu ma asteptam sa gasesc alt roman (translation for everyone else hey wasnt expecting to find another romanian)

Portugal, Lisbon.
Southwest Florida. It’s hot, it’s humid, it’s not the worst place I’ve lived, but it’s close.
UK. Rural East Anglia in fact. If you have seen the tv show Detectorists you will have seen several locations that I travel past regularly.
I lived in that area for a few years in the 80’s. One thing I miss is that due to it being so flat you could see thunderstorms rolling in from miles away and the frantic dash to get home.
Finland :)
There are several of us!
North of England. I like it, I used to live in a city but recently moved out to a town which has much easier access to the countryside, and I prefer that a lot more. One thing I like about the new place is the diversity of food - There’s some great Indian, Turkish, and Polish restaurants in the area, even a Brazilian steakhouse.
A fellow Northerner! I’m the opposite, currently living in a small town surrounded by countryside and absolutely detest it and wish I could move back to the city, but alas. That said your post prompted me to look up where our nearest Brazilian steakhouse is and it’s actually not too far at all, so thanks for that haha.
Nice! East or West, if you don’t mind saying?
East. Spent most of my adult life in Newcastle but husband is very attached to his hometown so now we’re down in Teesside. It’s pretty here, but I’m not really the outdoorsy type!
Haha wow, I’m actually from teesside. I moved further south (but still north Yorkshire) about five years ago though. Now if you’re in the country there’s a strong chance you’re not far away from my hometown. Miss the parmos all the time.
Small world!
First day on Lemmy, already found a local! Sadly I’m vegetarian and the only place I knew of that did a veggie parmo shut down. On the hunt for a replacement if you have any tips lol
Sadly not, I actually tried eating a vegetarian diet the start of the year but it became flexitarian after a month. Parmos are one of the exceptions I allow myself when I’m back in teesside.
also my wife happens to be a cross stitcher too! She wants to know if you’ve been to any of the craft retreats in the area and if you’d recommend any?
I haven’t! I don’t drive which is the other reason it sucks not being in a city…but actually the only stitching group I even know of is up in Newcastle so if she has pointers to more local ones I am all ears! A friend of mine just started a knit and natter over in Guisborough if that counts for anything.
Also if it turns out I already know your wife from cross stitch Instagram or something I swear to god…
India :)
Both Southwest Colorado and Western North Carolina. Totally different mountains in each but both are still beautiful in their own way.
Originally? Deepest, nazi infested east of germany… now happy in Hessen as well ;)
I’m in England, Essex. That’s east of London. Stuck between two cities in a rural setting.
Originally California, U.S.A., but now (since a few years) live in Southern Germany.
I am from Ireland. Within Ulster but not part of Northern Ireland. It’s enjoyable with the lovely weather that we are having but there is nothing here for the younger generation. Most youngins are moving to either Dublin, London or even Australia.
Hello! I’m also from that general area of Ireland. I do agree with you on the lack of things for young people. I’ve noticed a lot of the people living near me are either families with kids or middle age/elderly people, with few young singles/couples.
