I’ve been cutting out subscriptions and Spotify is the last one I would like to get rid of. I’ve transitioned to buying and downloading my favourite artists songs so I can own the music I love. The only thing keeping me with Spotify at the moment is the Release Radar playlist it creates for you. Basically I want to know if there is a way to get notified when the artists I follow release new music. I’ve been looking and so far I haven’t found a viable alternative.
Band camp sends you updates about artists/producer you bought from. Feel like it’s borderline scam, but may be a way
I bet they’ve got websites with RSS feeds. Pick up an RSS reader and subscribe to their news & announcements page.

A lot of artists have mailers or feeds they maintain - it’s often easiest to just follow them directly.
This is the way to avoid all the spammy apps and services.
Not sure if by notification but last.fm will even give you heads up when music you listen to is in concerts. And supports scrobbling in many apps
- Social Media of them
- YouTube pages owned/operated by them
- Bandcamp
- Mail lists
- A google search every now and again
That’s how I do it. Mainly YouTube and the eMails. But some of the bands I most listen to are more indie/obscure, so they play to their fans more than people on the level of Metalica and Taylor Swift.

Replace Artist ID with the string of characters found at the end of the artist’s Spotify URL.
Now this is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you very much!
FOSS
Spottube (runs off Spotify) Innertune (runs off YT music)
I was running Spottube but it kept crashing, so I switched to innertune closes if you add too many songs in a row, but that’s the only issue so far.
Spottube has all the features, including the new music station.

7 Digital is a great site to buy music files legally. I use that mainly. Personally I would not buy 500 songs at once, but basically I buy my favs and slowly add songs I really like over time. Innertune is great in the meantime to listen to what you want to without paying a subscription

If you know, you know
Most music torrent sites have notifications for artists you follow.
