The two-page memo, which was obtained by the Associated Press, does not allege any criminal conduct by Khalil, a legal permanent US resident and graduate student who served as spokesperson for campus activists last year during large demonstrations against Israel’s treatment of Palestinians and the war in Gaza. Rather, Rubio wrote Khalil could be expelled for his beliefs. He said that while Khalil’s activities were “otherwise lawful”, letting him remain in the country would undermine “US policy to combat antisemitism around the world and in the United States, in addition to efforts to protect Jewish students from harassment and violence in the United States”.

There’s a school of thought out there where only citizens have the full rights granted by the constitution…

Meanwhile there’s no such thing as precedent or rule of law…

Tell that to the moron MAGA supporters. They keep saying that the US Constitution is only for US citizens, no one else.

I guess they don’t know about, “WE THE PEOPLE”.

Don’t see the word “citizen” in the first amendment.

Spoiler: even illegal immigrants are entitled to due process.

That “school of thought” is just flat-out wrong. The Bill of Rights doesn’t say what rights people have; it says what Congress cannot do. When Congress can’t do it at all, who it can’t do it to is irrelevant.

That school of thought would have to include the fact that if rights don’t apply, neither do laws, and being “an illegal” wouldn’t exist because those rights and laws no longer apply.

It falls apart when you spend 0 seconds thinking about it.

The 1st amendment is only effective if you have a government and a court that will enforce it.

We don’t have that here in America.

Punishing us for our thoughts is clearly established as the job of the church. This is a violation of separation of church and state.

      Exactly. They’re using religious bias.

But it’s why my state can’t sell alcohol on Sunday and why people ban abortions and why they’re pushing prayer in school

They want to make the US a christian version of Iran

Since we’re just making up rules now… New rule…

      I’d care. As H. L. Mencken said:

The trouble with fighting for human freedom is that one spends most of one’s time defending scoundrels. For it is against scoundrels that oppressive laws are first aimed, and oppression must be stopped at the beginning if it is to be stopped at all.

Yeah, cause in a nazis belief system I should be enslaved or killed. There belief system is an existential threat to me, so yeah I’m not gonna cry if they’re further away from me.

Mahmouds belief system is only an existential threat to the apartheid Israeli state.

It means calling for a one party state with equal rights for all. You know, what non-racist people should want. Guessing from your bad faith lies about that statement, I’m guessing that isn’t you, though.

One of the last arguments defenders of apartheid systems like to use is: ‘we can’t give them equal rights. Do you know what they’ll do to us? They might do to us what we did to them.’

Last time I heard this argument was from defenders of Apartheid South Africa about the ANC. Whom they also declared were terrorists.

You know, that racist shithole country whose final ally was Israel?

Apartheid countries like to stick together, I guess.

          EDIT:

Do you think apartheid South Africa should have fought to maintain apartheid like Rhodesia did?

          Why or why not?

Were the ANC arguing to kill all white people in South Africa when they argued for an end to an apartheid state?

How is that different from Israel?

If you’re not an intellectual coward, you’ll answer these questions, even if only to yourself.

EDIT EDIT: Holy crap you’re a human walking contradiction. Based on your comments you’re a pro-union anti-racist that is pro deportation without judicial process. You’re also transphobic and racist against Chinese people.

You have no consistency to your ideological beliefs, like, AT ALL.

do you know what “from the river to the sea” means?

Yeah, it means the same thing as a song I was taught in elementary school:

          From sea to shining sea,

          Let freedom ring

It means let everyone in this land enjoy freedom. I suppose if your a cynical bastard you could say it means free of natives, but I don’t think that’s what the elementary schoolers, and everyone else who sings the song means.

Oh God no, what gave that idea? From the river to the sea means destroying Israel and killing every infidel there.

Actually now that I think about it, from sea to shining sea did involve killing a lot of native Americans. That actually lines up.
