minus-squareUlrich@feddit.orglinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up4arrow-down16·22 days agoInteresting. My copy of Half Life from 1998 never got an upgrade for new hardware 😞

minus-squarecatloaf@lemm.eelinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up2·16 days agoI didn’t forget it, but it’s not strictly an update.
minus-squareUlrich@feddit.orglinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up2arrow-down13·22 days agoOh, which hardware was this upgraded for?
minus-squaremissingno@fedia.iolinkfedilinkarrow-up8·21 days agoIf you try reading those patch notes they’ll tell you exactly what kinds of modern hardware some of these changes are targeted at: Steam Deck optimizations Improved controller support Default gamma reduced since you’re probably not playing on a CRT anymore, and resolution no longer defaults to 640x480 Ultrawide FOV support for ultrawide monitors Lowest quality settings removed since no one is running hardware that weak anymore Software renderer fixed on hardware that doesn’t support 16-bit color
minus-squareUlrich@feddit.orglinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up1arrow-down11·edit-222 days agoWeird, considering it came out several years after Steam Deck and it works just fine on my desktop PC…
minus-squarecatloaf@lemm.eelinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up5·22 days agoAnd the games in the article would have worked just fine on the Switch 2 as well.
minus-squareUlrich@feddit.orglinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up1arrow-down8·22 days agoI mean that makes sense, considering they’re Nintendo games and it’s a Nintendo console.
minus-squareBombOmOm@lemmy.worldcakelinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up6arrow-down2·edit-222 days agoWorks perfectly fine on my machine I bought over two decades after the game came out, looks significantly better than when the game came out too. Not sure how much more upgradability you could possibly want.
