And for the record, there was nothing even remotely racist in my comment. Dessalines just can’t accept being wrong. 🤷🏻‍♀️

UPDATE : I am (almost) sad to report the ban only extends to memes@lemmy.ml !

Also, I found the original comment, here it is (and if you see what’s racist about it, please tell me, I’m open to being wrong about this, although I really doubt it) :

The point is to keep track of .ml’s moderation abuses and collect evidence of their wrongdoing to encourage others to avoid or (wishful thinking but you never know) defederate from .ml. Blocking .ml just lets them continue their garbage unopposed and hidden from public scrutiny.

@dessalines@lemmy.ml It’s pretty embarassing that you’re supposedly one of the lead lemmy devs yet don’t understand that the modlog is public and we can see you’re full of shit when you claim a comment like this is racist. Maybe if you spent more time actually developing and less time being red fascist you’d know how your own system works.

This community is blocked on .ml (can’t let people realize Dessalines is full of shit!) I’m not sure if Dessalines will be able to see this.

And I have dessalines blocked so even if he saw this and replied I wouldn’t know anyways.

I posted this comment purely for whatever scraps of catharsis it may generate.

I saw that thread yesterday and decided it was not even worth entering the cesspool. I figured any criticism of China would be dismissed as either motivated or based on western propaganda.

Thanks for trying it in my place ter_maxima

Being a ml honestly takes so much mental gymnastics…from skipping both marx and lenins works entirely, touting stalin as a legitimate theorist, to simping for nationalist movements, doing racial pseudo science plus the intellectual leg work for large imperialist nations…it seems like a lot of work to me…and all to come across as a whiney sort of racist spoiled psuedo intellecual brat to the actual working class. Dont get me started on maoists who legitimately think that white people cant be proletarian. These two types of leftist specifically will do anything but try to understand what communism is.

The “Asian yellow skin” thing never made any sense to me. I’ve seen a ton of Asians, none of them were yellow, not even close. Xi Jinping has the same complexion as a white guy with a tan.

I think it was substantially influenced by the traditional four humours. Carl Linnaeus’ work was not the first to call East Asians “yellow”, but it was very widely spread and influential. He categorised humans into four races and associated each with one of the humours, then describing that race as having the characteristics associated with the humour (hence the equally-odd “red” description for Native Americans)

Is piefed centered on communities instead of people, like Lemmy ? The reason I only use reddit-like social media is because I’ve never cared to follow individuals, but I do care about communities and shared interests.

Well, from my very limited experience point of view it is exactly 1:1 replacement of Lemmy.

It might not support 100% lemmy features, but generally it functions the same.

Yes, it is. You can be confused when checking it out because it not only allows you to navigate communities individually like on Lemmy but also bundle of communities for a single feed by topic or custom feeds created by others (likw how people can bundle a list of profiles for its own custom feed on Bluesky, but instead you do it with communities on PieFed)

        Communities (Lemmy) = Communities (PieFed)

Topics (PieFed) = by so far what I understood its created by the instance usually and by default when self-hosting your own it will have some topics already organized with feed from communities related to the topic title

Feed (PieFed) = user & instance custom built feed of communities (Lemmy or PieFed) bundled together into a single feed and easily shareable with others

You can check the PieFed instance list here , some Lemmy instances are alreqdy starting to host a PieFed instance on the side too I just dont see lemmy.zip instance for PieFed there yet which is piefed.zip but you can check the others in the notes by the side of their address

That would be Pixelfed , maybe you just confused the names :)

If you are looking for fediverse Facebook, theres Friendica but in that case I find Friendica better if you’re going to selfhost for you and your friends to use for having a different use case, also supports bridging with plenty of Fediverse platforms and Fediverse-friendly platforms like Bluesky and even pull RSS Feeds into your feed, its quite the tool if you are willing to selfhost or any of your friends IRL are

Lemm.ee indeed. So far it’s been quite decent alternative to lemmy. I used voyager on mobile, switched to Interstellar, which is not as polished yet honestly, but it’s still very much usable. For web interface I find the defaults much, MUCH better on piefed than on lemmy. I disliked lemmys default to be so bad I’d rather used something else like Alexandrite or Photon.

To be honest, since Lemm.ee anouncement my main goal was to ditch lemmy (thanks to dessalines) and stay with fediverse. The other consideration was mbin (like fedia.io), but after some reading it seems it’s very limited by manpower and probably won’t see much development in near future.
