I’m going through the same shit at the moment. It doesn’t really bother me, and I expect a rejection email every time I apply for a job, but a few weeks ago, I got one that really pissed me off for some reason. They sent me one sentence that went something like, “We regret to inform you that we cannot consider you for this position.” The fact that they used the word “cannot” when I literally met every single requirement in the job posting made me so angry. Yeah, you want a full-time employee, I want to work four days a week max, that’s fair, I guess. But don’t tell me you can’t when in reality, you don’t want to. It’s either that, or they didn’t like my salary expectations that broke down to €17-19 an hour for someone with a Master’s degree and relevant work experience. Fun times. Sorry for the rant.

Worst experience I had was with a property management firm who made me go through three stages of interviews, kept me waiting for weeks for responses about next steps, sent me a bogus offer acceptance letter, then tried to lowball me by insisting the role I applied for was £5k lower than advertised.
And apparently this is a major property management firm that has BlackRock as one of their big clients.
Job market is shit right now for accountants.

I applied to 50 jobs and got no responses to most, maybe 5 “We’re sorry we moved forward …”, and no interviews.
