Donald Trump’s Justice Department is under fire by a federal judge after uncovering “multiple employees … may have violated” local rules guaranteeing a right to a fair trial for so-called “healthcare shooter” Luigi Mangione.
U.S. District Court Judge Margaret Garnett wrote on Wednesday that Mangione documented several incidents in which members of the Southern District of New York made public statements that are in violation of Criminal Rule 23.1.
The judge shredded the DOJ, saying that she issued an order on “April 25, 2025, specifically identifying the strictures of this rule for counsel and directing the prosecution team to ensure that the highest levels of the Department of Justice, up to and including Attorney General Bondi, were aware of and understood they were bound by this Rule.”
The entire US admin operates on misconduct these days
Not that it would happen, but can you imagine if the case ends up getting dismissed with prejudice before trial over that?
Even more fun, if they rush the federal case forward instead of letting the state go first, he would be shielded prosecution at the state level the second jeopardy attaches (New York state law disallows prosecution of crimes which have already been tried in another jurisdiction). If the feds then botch the case, they would have ruined both chances to prosecute.
Given the level of competence we’ve seen so far, this seems like a very plausible scenario.
The problem is it’s Trumps DOJ. If he gets tried to the federal level, then no matter how much they botch the case Luigi is likely to end up like Epstein or deported to another country dead.
He would be our Kyle Rittenhouse, but way cooler and not a product of FAS.
Except Rittenhouse just fucking showed up to a police riot with a gun hoping to the chance to shoot black people and Luigi actually stood for something.
I’m sure in their mind they’re the good guys, but here in reality those two are not exactly equivalents.
Except Luigi clearly isn’t the shooter. He looks nothing like the pictures, and the cops clearly planted the evidence.
Plus we were playing Mario Kart at the time. Where was Rittenhouse at that time though, huh?
My headcanon is that Luigi did plant his own evidence as a distraction in sympathy of the real shooter.
Reason I chose that human shitstain is because he was considered a hero and celebrity among MAGA. Yes, I agree with what you said.
I believe he, a teenager still green behind the ears, would have understood that he fucked up and be willing to repent, but he was bought up by fascist social media pundits pretty much straight away and decided to go along with it 100%.
They contributed to making him the shitstain he is today. Even his parents iirc.
Nope, we get it. He is a good comparison.
a product of FAS.
Fascists Agitprop Shithousery?
With a very incompetent DOJ, it is very much possible.
This timeline would have been worth it.
Maybe not entirely, but a little strawberry on a shit banana split
A fantastic strawberry, too
Luigi Mangione for congress, since they’ve set the asinine precedent that running for office gets you out of consequences for crimes
With any rate, Luigi will walk free and it’ll be the fault of these idiots who cannot allow their egos and pride to not get in the way of these things.
And I love to see it.
Also, they have to prove him guilty. This could go to trial and the evidence may still be insignificant to prosecute him. It all comes down to if what we’ve been told is true or not.
That’s largely going to be dependent on a couple things;
Luigi’s Attorney now has to hammer on this hard, hard enough to stick it through one ear hole and out the other through the thick skulls of the prosecutors. There are strong pieces of evidence now that say that Luigi’s 5th Amendment rights has been violated and that people from the DOJ have overstepped themselves.
The other thing is whether anything is going to stick. Even if Luigi walks or is given lesser sentencing or whatever. Trump’s crazy ass or the crazy ass DOJ of his is still going to want to try and kill Luigi anyways by making him go through another trial by re-writing the rules.
I don’t know what else has been going on or what all is rumor, but if it sticks that his backpack being searched that had his manifesto and other incriminating things in it ends up being deemed an illegal search and becomes inadmissible, they may have very little evidence to go off of for prosecution.
Has there been any rulings on some of the evidence yet? I thought there was a whole mess of chain of custody or other type problems with a lot of it.
So I’m going against the grain a bit here, but why on earth does he always make those faces? It’s really kinda uncanny. Courtroom photos had him raising eyebrows in bizarre ways
So what?
Some people do that. It’s called facial expression. Some do it consciously because they know/think it makes them look cool. Whether they’re in custody or not. Again: so what? It has nothing to do with anything here.
Perhaps you should consider that it may simply be his face.
