I am 80% sure part of the joke is that people skip the name to read the dialogue, so have to look back to see it was indeed the gorilla speaking all along.

I would like to read the full research paper that determined the best gorilla joke of 1897. How big was the gorilla joke sample size? Did the methodology account for “slow burn” jokes? What was the P value of this particular joke?
It’s not that they were mentally in 2030, it’s that a large percentage of people have always been “mental.”
