Nope, not really. The altitude range of manpads is significantly lower than they fly. Stinger missiles can hit up to 12500 feet per wikipedia, and B52s are going to be higher than that, as to give more range to the cruise missiles they are launching.

In order to try save everyone, the pilot used the PA to tell the passengers about the impending crash and also to “react to the hijackers,” in an attempt to get people to storm the cockpit and unhijack the plane.
