Yeah it’s not gonna be easy, but honestly I do see potential in mlem and I think with some basic additions, it can get itself closer to that Apollo experience. Which of course is what all apps should aspire to
Also just reiterating the thanks. I know nothing about coding or servers or running a forum, or even enough to know what questions to ask. But I do comment a lot, enjoy contributing, and upvote basically everything, so that I shall do!
I’m in the same boat. All my Apollo browsing time has been spent on learning this. I basically just tipped Christian £10 then checked out. mlem for iOS is surprisingly good, I feel pretty at home on it, at least for basic scroll browsing
Earlier this year I 100%ed only my second game in 29 years full of gaming… Grounded. I absolutely adore that game, I have loads of cool photo mode images that were super popular on reddit. I’ll need to post those somewhere here!
Thanks for putting this together. I guess for completely random reasons you are our shepherd away from reddit, and it’s cool to hear running this kinda thing is a passion of yours. Cheers from Scotland! 🏴
Exactly the same here man, come October I’d have been on reddit daily for 10 years, but alas. Something will come along, and I’m willing to try and see if Lemmy is it despite initial concerns
I think the ONLY useful way to use it is how I do, which is just every couple of years to track how my own views and beliefs have changed throughout me aging (still just for fun/personal interest!). It’s not perfect but it can at least measure the change in a single person. To nobodies surprise I started bottom left, close to centre 10 years ago, and now I’m significantly closer to the bottom left corner
