Facebook has been planning its own city for some time as well as other big tech. Google has even an own unit called Sidewalk Labs to “radically improve quality of life in cities” (that essentially means every move you make and every word you say in the city is recorded), e.g., in Toronto.

Since the pandemic, tech firms are also buying real estate in large cities, e.g., in Manhattan.
