Well, it’s even weirder because, if I understood what I read correctly, the Typhlosion was the only party that really could consent. It talked to the girl both in a shifted human form and in its real form. The girl I can only assume was underage because they kept calling her a girl. So the Typhlosion was the real creeper. Also this took place in some ancient era where the boundary between Pokemon and humans was blurred. It has Japanese youkai vibes for sure. I don’t know about the other stories, though, I only heard the Typhlosion one.

I’ve always had to restrain myself on pointing out that boning some Pokemon is infinitely less problematic that raising them to fight. Alakazam is smarter than its trainer as a general rule and a lot of these ghost types and legendaries are just people.

Ultimately I just don’t think very hard on these things when playing my overpriced pet simulator. And I still think the Poke Pelago is way less messed up than the solitary confinement of a Pokeball, but again, I digress.

We’re really just never going to see Typhlosian again because of some leaked document?

I’m going to be honest, I liked those stories from the documents. They felt like real myths and legends in the pokèmon world. So what if they were weird and fucked up? So is real mythology.

iirc, Pokémon and Human relations were actually canon in some of the DS games, but only in the original japanese version. For the US version they changed some words to be more like: “Back in the day Pokémon were more closer to humans, they ate in the same table, did the same things and were good friends”. But in the japanese version they basically said that humans would date and marry pokémons.

I still think it’s fucked up what they wrote in the leaked doc, but I don’t think they should remove Typhlosian for something that is not even canon or appeared in any game or media. But knowing Nintendo, I guess Typhlosian is going to get the Porygon treatment, and never show up again in any bigger role other than some random pokémon.

Just read the documents and- agreed. I actually really like the stories, they bring a immense degree of life (historical life, cultures, the development and beliefs of civilization in the series and how their ancients saw the world around them).

They might not be the best fit for as mainstream/““family friendly””/etc of a franchise as Pokemon (more financially/possibly decreasing the target audience a little bit) but if they were obscure lore/etc ingame it would honestly be really cool.

I agree with you that the little tales in the leaks do actually fit the style of real mythology, which is full of stories about freaky sex from incest to bestiality to tree-sired pregnancies and self-cest.

Imo this is just an example of why these attempts at story-driven immortal franchises will inevitably collapse under their own weight. Pokemon initially worked fine as a sort of amusement park reality where there isn’t really any focus on the wider world or its history, but as these weird amalgamated corporate franchises get bigger than their original scope, they run out of material to grow up with, and they start to just grow in every other direction instead. It’s why your favorite Netflix series starts to fill its runtime with episodes devoted to giving every side character, no matter how irrelevant, a full developmental arc–the “universification” of settings

Word. For my archaic Millenial ass Star Wars is this. EVERY SINGLE EXTRA IN EVERY SCENE is a secret hero of the republic jedi who escaped the purge and is involved in secret rebellion business, as revealed in Tales of the Jedi issue 42069 originally published in 1993 and elevated to C canon by Disney in 2017.

Woke ruined pokemon years ago anyway. I don’t remember any of them having genitals since the original 151. Pikachu doesn’t even have a penis in the new games.
