Reminds me of the old “derbakerta panda wibcheengs” meme

my favorite playful insult is “I just KNOW you got beef with your phones speech-to-text”, I live in Florida so it’s pretty common to talk to people with southern accents and they ALL get misunderstood when trying to send a text while driving or something and it’s hilarious
My brother in law has a really southern accent from his dad and both me and my sister got the autistic trait of “adopt speaking patterns from people around you subconsciously” so we both sound like we’re making fun of him by accident sometimes without realizing 😭😭
he caught a beer can with a fishing pole once. That was cool

American English was a mistake!
I like to troll Americans occasionally by calling American English ‘English (simplified)’.

what phonetic writing system is this? it’s definitely not IPA, but it kinda resembles it?
American IPA.
I’d rather have a Czech pilsner, thanks
I don’t think it’s a book on accents, its a phonetic book for learning English. I have one for learning French, it’s in English phonetic to pronounce French words. Just a different way to learn the language.
I daresay it was a book sold in America for ‘English Pronunciation’, or something, but it definitely spells out an American accent, which is understandable. Not sure why the person in the post feels so called out by it, other than ignorance of one’s own accent, but whatever, the ‘translations’ are pretty fun.
I always kind of enjoy reading spelled out accents as a literary exercise. Pratchett was great at it with the Mac Nac Feegle, for e.g., and wasn’t that James Joyce’s whole thing?
This is good
You could definitely turn this into a game, giving english speaking participants the phonetic sentence to translate would be funny.
Mad Gab/Incohearent are essentially this. They’re fun little party games
Sh’g’r, Cthulhu’s booty call
Nice try, Jar Jar, but your Sith tactics won’t work here.
Well that was a fun read!
To be fair, it’s cause you can speak faster that way.
Where’s the lie?
There is no lie. It’s just tough to admit that it’s fairly accurate.
…coffee with lemon? 🤨🤔
First thing I thought, too. For tea, yes, but for coffee? Madness!
A few drops of lemon juice helps cut the bitterness. Just be careful about adding milk or cream!
