That’s great news and more places should follow it but I find it funny that students vote for something that will be in effect until after most of them will be gone from the University (assuming 4-5 year degrees)
Look, I’m a bro-y guy. I need my protein, ideally 35g per meal. As long as I can have that, then I’m all for a plant based diet.
Unless you have Celiac disease, seitan (basically pure gluten) is a pretty ideal meat substitute. I absolutely hate how the meat and diary industries have conspired to make gluten look like this evil unhealthy thing that everyone regardless of medical status needs to avoid when it’s been a major source of protein basically since we figured out farming.
Also, lentils. Has both protein and fiber and AFAIK is Celiac friendly. There’s a reason it’s one of the go-to’s in India which has more vegetarians than any other country. Probably a better choice for catering because less people are intolerant to it.
Hmmmm Seitan and lentils eh?! I may have to go find some recipes

my first thought was I would vote for this provided it took effect in more than four years.
Yeah it’s not like universities of all places, where the vast majority of science is taught and developed, should also be where science based sustainable living is actually practiced.
I submit the following: If you’re looking to go to university, especially if you plan on pursuing a science degree, yet can’t even listen to the established science and go four years of your life without eating meat at the expense of our literal future on this planet, go be a butcher or factory farmer instead because that’s clearly your true calling. And if you’re not willing to budge on your meat consumption despite not being able to stomach working in the meat industry where your food comes from, maybe have a nice long chat with your conscience because it’s trying to tell you something.
I had classmates in microbiology. The major not just the class. That did not believe in evolution. It was weird.
Its not a joke, its a very serious issue that needs to be addressed by everyone.
This is part of a broader movement that has seen successes in a lot of places. From Wikipedia
Plant-Based Universities is an international student-led campaign calling for universities and Students’ Unions to adopt fully plant-based catering.[1][2] The campaign began in late 2021[3] in response to the climate crisis.[4] Its chapters have initiated votes in Students’ Unions and, as of October 2025, been successful in one Dutch, one Swedish, two Austrian, two Swiss, four German, and fourteen British universities, with around 80 active campaigns across nine countries.
