Huh. Does anyone actually want a foldable phone? They’ve been out for a while but I’ve never seen one in the wild.

I feel as if phones have become like cars - the most important features are now so well implemented that it’s not possible to make a large performance leap from product generation to generation. So they’re trying to innovate for the sake of creating a new product category where there’s more to do

No. I want privacy by default, and not having to flash or root a device to get rid of all the dirt and spyware that comes pre-installed.

If you run a business and need to do tablet stuff regularly but don’t want to carry around a full tablet in a backpack, I could see that being a good niche for foldables, but these things always seem to run well over $1000 and are basically impossible to repair when the screen inevitably dies, so unless/until they become the new normal to where even $200 budget phones are foldable, I don’t see myself ever buying one.
