I’ve had a traumatic wilderness event where I was dehydrated and became lost while solo backpacking and that was after having my tent broken by a bear and all of my food and water destroyed. I remember finally finding a dirt road and there was a tiny mud puddle on it that was 95% mud and I was really considering trying to get a drink out of it. It turned out I was only about a mile from my car once I started walking the road, and I had an extra liter of water in the trunk. Half frozen, and refreshing as fuck. But at the moment I was eyeing that mud I would have taken a ride from literally anyone.

On another occasion I got to ride in the back of a truck with four dead wild turkeys thanks to a hunter who gave me a ride, I had hiked the wrong way and my 4 mile/ 6.5km hike would have been 12 miles/20km with a really heavy winter backpacking pack. I get the meme, but nobody turns down a rescue.
