Please, never stop reminding chuds that their political views are their entire personality. They have no real personality but make up for it by joining the political popular kids.

Straight people…maybe I’d respect ‘em if they didn’t make it their whole personality.

would be more immersive if character had vocals.

Ffs read. FUCKING READ. FUCKING LEARN TO USE YOUR IMAGINATION TO GIVE VOICES TO THE WORDS YOU ARE READING.

I enjoy when the characters are voiced (well) but I wouldn’t expect it out of a game like octopath that’s targeting a retro aesthetic.

I’ve always found RPG’s more immersive when the MC has no dialogue other than the lines you choose. It lowers the chances that anything they say will misalign with the way you’re role-playing the character.

I liked Dragon Age The Veilguard a lot more than most people, but there was a point where your Rook makes a bunch of dad jokes about an Elven hand statue in found in Arlathan, I would never RP as someone who makes the tamest, most milquetoast of dad jokes.

Right? The vocals help in some games and situations, but a lot of the memorable impressions were the silent ones where we had to read and imagine in our heads. ‘Aint no gettin’ off this trian!

I have no idea where this sentiment comes from. I remember voice acting in games being made fun of. Now it’s mandatory?

Meanwhile bg3 has 10 quadrillion voice lines so it’s really just that bethesda didn’t want to spend the money.

Modern games spend 50 million on voice acting and now gamers are too lazy to read.

In the good old days voice acting was done by amateurs and so it was seen as annoying.

These types of people have developed their identity through comparing themselves to others. It makes them feel comfy they are the dominating force. When this position is challenged, they lash out and try to find someone, to blame it on.

It’s like water in the shower getting too, because their wife flushed the toilet, but instead of separating the water pipes (it requires a lot of effort), they will start blaming their wife for being <slur> , which can turn into misogyny.

Here they liked playing as a certain kind of protagonist in games, but someone decided to make a game with a different type of protagonist and they got upset. Now they are blaming it on the “woke”. They think others are like them too and won’t make games for them, so any deviation from the norm becomes scary. A world where games are made from each according to their need, to each according to their ability is not imaginable.

Am I supposed to be explaining this? Sometimes I can’t tell if the questions asked are serious or rhetorical, so if people understand this already, many probably do I don’t wanna make anyone seem less intelligent. Just give yourself a pat on the back for knowing already.

2 of the most famous protagonists in gaming are silent: Link from Zelda and Gordon from Half Life.

Guess we’re woke and gay in Hyrule and Black Mesa

I mean kinda, yeah. Alyx is a POC woman who holds her own in Half-Life, Zelda is one of the three most powerful people in the setting and there’s no shortage of other powerful women around, including an entire species of dark-skinned warrior women.

(Not that the Gerudo are an especially good/sensitive portrayal of POC but even ignorant racism is woke to chuds these days, you have to be a full on nazi to satisfy them now)

If Half-life: Decay came out today, these fuckers would be decrying it as woke propaganda because both the protagonists are dressed like this:

      Instead of some sorta boobplate.

Does that mean all the retro games created before storage technologies and audio quality became good enough to include voice acting are woke? And I guess Sega CD era FMV games are the height of anti-woke gaming.

Someone needs to infiltrate their spaces and tell them they’re all a bunch of woke progressives if they play anything other than Night Trap or Sewer Shark.

Considering the voice acting in the OG Octopath traveller, a lack of it in this one is probably a good thing. Though it wasn’t really the voice actor’s fault, that dialogue was some of the worst writing I’ve ever seen.
