Yeah, so, like, anyone wants to talk about stopping funding those 100 corporations? No? At all? Oh, ok, cool, another decade with no real actions taken from any party, then.
Yeah sure, smart thermostats will save the world
The spying is just a bonus!
Right up until the non-replacable battery (yes. in a goddamn thermostat) dies in a year and you have by a new one.
True, but we live in a society. Nothing, especially not those 100 companies, exists in a vacuum. We buy their products and services, we work there, we elect politicians that they fund.
I’m definitely not trying to defend them, they are absolutely failing to respond to this problem. But reducing it to “we don’t play any part in this, it’s just these top companies”, is an oversimplification of a very important and very complicated problem.
One person eating less meat doesn’t matter, but a lot of people eating less meat does matter. CNN has the platform to reach a lot of people, so it is helpful for them to use that platform in this way. Yes, there are other things we should do too. But, I think to solve this issue we need to use every tool we have available, including individual changes AND regulatory changes.
I know this is just a funny meme, sorry for getting up on my soapbox. I’ve just seen this posted a lot and have always been too afraid of the reddit backlash to post my thoughts on it.
Also its better to think of companies as machines instead. You buy they sell. You dont buy they change the product. Its not the fault the people because they dont know better and the companies are just machines so only the media and politics can solve climate change.
Yes! Another classic.
Great comeback
