I’m glad people are dunking on E33 because I still want to play that game yet and my hype was WAY TOO HIGH, now I know it’s not literally everyone’s favorite game ever so my expectations are tempered
Thay divinity trailer was fucking gross. I want to play the game less having seen it
That’s kinda what the Divinity series is like. The trailer was turned up to 11, and usually they mix in some dark/absurdist comedy, but they’re pretty gorey games.
the lizard sex was kinda cool, i could do with less vomiting on pigs

E33 did not deserve all those awards, I liked it but better than Silksong AND KCD2 AND DS2? Really?
Cool game announcements though. Geoff announced AC8 so he’s safe from me for another yearA NEW BREED OF SHOOTER (overwatch clone)
Team Fortress 3?
Yeah but does overwatch have horses? checkmate atheists
Was it Battleborn that had horses? I can’t remember. One of the clones had mounts.

worst geoffslop of all time it’s got me negatively polarized against a good game
Unironically star wars racing game looks more promising than old republic
yeah, that could be fun. probably gonna be the best star wars game in 20 years, which is saying absolutely nothing at all
IDK Empire at War was a great strategy game (early 2006, barely fits the requirement) and I know The Old Republic scratches the WoW itch for many of my friends. I also had a ton of fun in the original Battlefront/II.
Funny you mention that. People who said Total Warhammer 40k couldnt be done look no further then Empire At War. Replace the planetary combat with Dawn of War 1 and you have a game I would play for 10.000 hours. (Just as an example)
The guys who are doing 40k did Halo Wars 2, and are a Creative Assembly studio. There’s an even more recent example.
it has a much greater chance of actually coming out at least
aint no way some of yall thought half life 3 was even a possibility. surely you jest
no, that’s getting announced tomorrow.

They’ll probably save the Half Life 3 trailer for E3 next year. That would be better.
Holy shit possibly interesting Star Wars games and total warhammer 40k? Faith in gaming restored, send me to the gulag

I am still getting excited for Star Wars games in 2025

this time for sureWhat is Clair obscure
Geoff just faking everyone out with the intros that keep sounding like HL3
wtf is wuthering waves and why do we need to shut down game development until we can figure out wtf is going on with gacha games
Genshin Impact but… different? IDK how to describe WuWa that isn’t in the context of the company that made it, the previous games (like PGR, and Genshin Impact) and the differences between ‘gacha games’ that doesn’t sound gacha-rotted to an average person, but it’s supposed to be more ‘generous’, and high graphic compared to Genshin.
Gacha games are just popular because of the time sink and habitual ‘dailies’ routines when playing games and living the 9 to 5 life, also gambling surges your dopamine lol
China Stans SHOCKED when confronted with the terrible truth of Chinese Gooner Game Devs

strong china soft power but you have to appeal to the gooners
A MILLION SPACE MARINE DLCS UPON THE STEAM MARKETPLACE
AYO I HEARD THERE’S A NEW PODRACER GAME?!?
oh hey did Silly French Game win the GOATY
Teenage angst and a turnbased status based combat system but it’s French so it’s sexy.
Oh yeah and there’s a risk/reward parry system because the game was made after dark souls.
It’s good, actually.
It’s fine. It’s not that remarkable and will be largely ignored in a few years. It’s not a high watermark, it doesn’t innovate particularly, it’s a well made game that’s fine but stays comfortably within the bounds of a genre and focuses on style without tightly integrating it into game systems.
The game’s main strength is its artistic direction which is generally very good, although let down by mediocre level design from a mechanics/gameplay perspective. Which is fine. A new studio put out a well made and enjoyable game, I’m not a hater and as a first game (from admittedly very experienced devs) it’s an impressive showing.
It’s just hardly the best thing in every category released this year. Nobody is going to be talking about it in 5 years. This isn’t like hades or something where a studio took something popular and elevated it to heights nobody knew the genre could go to by tightly integrating all aspects of game design with high levels of polish. It’s just a good spectacle jrpg.

I’ve noticed how quickly it’s been ignored in a the now. People have said it is good, but it doesn’t seem like a game that has stuck with people beyond being more flashy fun game to switch brain off to. Which is fine, but not how a game has lasting impact.
There’s only so much impact you can have in the genre of “take turns selecting from a menu until you kill god with the power of friendship”. It’s so well established genre wise and it’s difficult to maintain pacing, but it’s too constrained to allow players to find their own narrative.
I do want to be clear, it’s very pretty and the performances are generally good, gustave especially is done well and the opening is strong but at the end of the day it’s like avatar. Pretty, sounds good, no dealbreaking flaws, just very comfortable and safe to the point that it fails to leave a mark beyond “I enjoyed looking at that”.
Which is fine but I mean how many awards need to be piled on this thing? In what ways is it particularly distinct from something like ghosts of yotei?
